Description
The Apostle John wrote the Gospel of John so "that you may believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31).
Jesus was miraculously conceived at Nazareth by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary. "The word became flesh and dwelt among us" in the silent night of Bethlehem (John 1:14 KJV; Luke 2:15-19). Jesus Christ humbled Himself in His incarnation to become a man and associate closely with His disciples:
Eating, sleeping, walking, laughing, living with them, growing tired, hungry and thirsty with them, his dirty, hurting feet throbbing like theirs.
Jesus, in His incarnate humanity, also offered full proof of His divinity. While tenting with mankind, His many astounding miracles forced people to lift their sights to God. Yet, so many in Jesus' day wanted to pick and choose the parts of His teachings to their liking. The same dynamic is at work today.
It is essential, therefore, that we take another good look at the Gospel of John, which presents Jesus as the Son of God who is "the one and only."
